Fuji Chemi Trading Co., Ltd. started with a rental room of about 6 tsubo(about 19.83㎡).
The following is a brief history of the company, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2021.
1951
On February 19, Fuji Trading Co., Ltd. started with a rental room of about 6 tsubo in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. The late Isao Ono was in charge of the business as president, and at that time they focused on selling synthetic resin raw materials, industrial products, etc. mainly to major and medium-sized electric wire companies.

Due to business expansion, Fuji Trading Co., Ltd. was relocated to "Hakuryukaku" in Yaesu in 1954, and then that building was renovated to "Kitamura Building" where the building still remains. Fuji Trading Co.,Ltd. also decided to rent one floor (later expanded to two floors) of the Kitamura Building on the occasion of the asset increase.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Fuji Trading Co.,Ltd. provided plastic tableware for the Olympic Village. That tableware was stronger than the previous ceramics, resistant to heat, and reasonable price, so they were very useful in the cafeteria of the Olympic Village, and the Tokyo Olympic Steering Committee sent us a letter of appreciation.

On May 13, we opened a sales office (later promoted to a branch) in Osaka. At that time, a customer of the electrical materials department in the head office had a factory also in Osaka, and this led us to sell electrical materials purchased from UNITIKA LTD., RIKEN TECHNOS CORPORATION, Toyo Aluminum K.K., and others to electric wire manufacturers in the Kansai area widely.

In addition to the sequential increases in capital from its founding, we received investment from Tokyo Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation and others, and our capital reached the 100 million yen mark. Thereby, we gradually established our position in the industry from various aspects, by such as cooperating in capital investment of our business partners.

We newly established Export & Import Department, while since its founding, we had been developing with the three pillars of synthetic resin, chemical products, and electrical material. Setting global expansion overseas as the fourth pillar, we have solidified our foundation as a "Functional Trading Company".

While many customers had established local factories in Southeast Asia at that time, FUJI CHEMI CO.,LTD. was established in Asoke, Bangkok, Thailand on September 17, due to considering that it's not enough to follow up to them from Export & Import Department in Japan to satisfy our customers requirement, but detailed support activities in local were necessary .

In response to growing needs of customers for film processing related to electronic materials, We purchased about 1,000 tsubo （3,305.79㎡）of land in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and opened a processing and logistics base to make it in-house cutting, winding, and processing of film, which had previously been outsourced.

Since the 1990s, China's reform and opening policy has accelerated at a stretch, many Japanese companies established local factories in China. Considering that attentive and sufficient supports for them in local were necessary, we established FUJI CHEMI TRADING SHANGHAI CO., LTD. in the Kohoku area of Shanghai, China on July 1.

Acquired management rights in 2012 by purchasing 100% of the shares of SSK (VIET NAM) CO., LTD., the manufacture established in 2007 in Vietnam where has been growing rapidly and has a hard-working national character and young and abundant labor force. This was our first overseas factory.

Local joint venture factory FUJI CHEMI HI-TECH (THAILAND) CO, LTD. was established in Chonburi Province, Thailand, in collaboration with our Chinese partners, the machine manufacturer and the processing factory. They have been mainly entrusted with post-processing and inspection work of electric wires with using machines.

On March 26, Takao Ono assumed the position of President, taking over from his predecessor, Jiro Saito. We will further evolve our strengths of "processing","overseas bases" and "small-lot support" and aim to continue to be an indispensable company for our customers.

The head office was relocated in July 2022 to the Chuo-ku area of Tokyo, where it had spent more than 45 years since its establishment until it moved to Kanda, Chiyoda-ku in April 1996.
As the way of working changes drastically due to the Korona-ka, we will return to our original intentions at the place of our founding and aim for new development.
